Budget 2015 is Expected to Uplift the Productivity of Bumiputeras

Kuala Lumpur: The implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) which exempts tax on some goods such as basic food items, electricity, fuel and so on will increase domestic spending among the people. Tesco Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Georg Fischer said 17 percent of Tesco’s suppliers consists of small and medium Bumiputera enterprises.

“Thus, in the 2015 Budget, we hope it can help increase production and productivity for Bumiputera products to the local market as well as offering the opportunity to sell to the international market,” he said.

He said the budget announcement will also help in reducing the burden of the people in the face of rising living costs and help consumers shop smarter.
